Historic Smithfield’s Opening Day Celebration / Sunrise Service

The Montgomery County Branch of Preservation Virginia announces Historic Smithfield’s Opening Day celebration. Come enjoy the festivities at Smithfield on April 3rd, 2010 from 10 am – 5 pm.

Historic Smithfield Plantation will begin its 2010 season with a reduced admission of only $1 at the gate. This includes a brief house tour, a cemetery tour and the freedom to peruse the grounds while talking to historic interpreters. Local guilds will be participating with colonial games, crafts, and more! In celebration of Easter, there will be Egg games that will occur at 11 am and a decorative Eggs-hibition on display throughout the plantation house. Be sure to come out to Smithfield with family and friends to enjoy the festivities on a beautiful spring day!

Come to the Easter Sunrise Service at Historic Smithfield, in collaboration with Blacksburg Presbyterian Church, April 4th at 7 am. The service will reflect the 18th century Scotch-Irish heritage of the Preston family with period music by Deo Gloria and message by Dr. Charles Taylor.
