The Town of Blacksburg has received a request for a Religious Assembly use in the R-4, Low Density Residential zoning district for a 31.9 acre portion of Tax Parcel 166-A-4 at 2401 North Main Street. The property owner is the Givens Brothers LLC and the applicant is the Blacksburg Baptist Church. The property is currently used as farmland. The application proposes a multipurpose building in the first phase, an approximately 10,000 square foot sanctuary with associated classrooms in the second phase and recreational amenities, such as softball field and picnic area in the third phase.

You are invited to a public neighborhood meeting at 5:30 pm on Thursday, August 5, 2010 in the Blacksburg Motor Company Conference Room, 400 South Main Street to learn more about the application. This is an opportunity to discuss the petition with the applicant. Town staff will provide meeting notes to the Planning Commission
The Planning Commission will consider the petition on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at 7:30 pm in the Roger E. Hedgepeth Chambers, second floor of the Municipal Building, 300 South Main Street. This is a Public Hearing and comment is welcome. The Town Council Public Hearing will be scheduled once Planning Commission makes a final recommendation to Town Council.
