Town of Blacksburg seeks design submissions for water quality public art campaign
The Town of Blacksburg is launching a public art project centered on local water heritage and water quality. Modeled after a successful program in Richmond, Blacksburg is seeking design concepts from local artists to adorn selected storm drains around town – with a mission to raise awareness about the choices (and changes) we can all make to restore the health of our local waterways.
Artists age 18 and up are invited to submit storm drain designs by Friday, Jan. 19, 2018 in keeping with the following themes:
- The Town of Blacksburg’s Freshwater Heritage
- The Protection of Stroubles Creek
- The New River Watershed’s Natural Beauty: local wildlife, healthy habitat, etc.
Detailed guidance and a design template for submission can be found at http://blacksburg.gov/stormwaterpublicarts. Selected artists will receive a $350 per location stipend for installing their work.
