Leaf collection update
Due to the impending major snow storm projected to hit the region this weekend, the Public Works Department will focus on leaf collection for the remainder of this week (including Saturday). Crews will pick up on narrow roads located in heavily forested areas of town, where leaf piles have already reduced the available roadway width for two-way traffic.
Leaf collection efforts will be suspended from Sunday, Dec. 9 until after snow removal operations have concluded. During snow removal operations, snow plow operators will make every effort to avoid pushing leaf piles with their snow plows. However, it will be difficult for the snow plow drivers to identify existing leaf piles during whiteout conditions and after considerable amounts of snow have accumulated.
Upon the completion of snow removal operations, leaf collection efforts will resume and will continue throughout town until all leaves are collected.
The Public Works Department appreciates the patience and understanding of the public as we prepare for this winter weather emergency. Questions and concerns may be addressed to the Director of Public Works at 540-443-1200 or email@example.com.
