The Town of Blacksburg Police, Fire, Rescue, and Transit Departments, along with Montgomery Regional Hospital and Montgomery County Public Schools will conduct an emergency training exercise at the intersection of Meadowbrook Drive and Shadowlake Road on Friday, July 30 from 10 am - 4 pm. The exercise will test response capabilities in a mass casualty scenario arising from a mock school bus accident. The exercise will be conducted in a controlled training environment and will involve pre-assigned community participation.
For safety reasons, roads through the exercise area will be closed. Shadow Lake Road from Basil Street to Meadowbrook Drive will close at 9:30 am. Meadowbrook Drive west of Heritage Park and at Alice Drive will close at 12:30 pm. Only local residents will be allowed access during this time. Roads should be reopened by 4 pm. The Blacksburg Police Department will be directing traffic in this area.
