Comprehensive Plan

Comprehensive Planning works to provide a perspective beyond current events and uses citizen advisory groups to investigate these issues and develop proposals for action plans.

Town Comprehensive Planners also propose, facilitate, and support the adoption of policies, Comprehensive Plan elements, and codes that reflect the future goals of the Town. They are continually researching and reviewing issues and trends affecting current and future land use as well as the quality of life and high standards set by Town residents. In addition, the  Town gathers information on population, income, employment, and other data to assess trends and compare them to projections.

A large amount of time is devoted to coordinating (with other departments, Planning Commission, and with various citizen committees and groups) and facilitating the implementation of the many projects and action strategies that are part of the Comprehensive Plan. The Comprehensive Plan is reviewed annually to track progress towards implementation of the five year action strategies and to set annual implementation plans for the upcoming years.
