Projects

Throughout the year, the Town of Blacksburg initiates a number of public improvement projects. While many projects are accomplished with in-house planning, engineering, and construction resources, often there is a need to contract out this work. Typical projects include; building renovations; roof replacements; major building system replacements; site landscaping; ball field restoration; playground equipment installation; sidewalk, curb & gutter construction; storm drain construction, street repaving, traffic signalization equipment replacement; water main installation; sanitary sewer main installation; and sanitary sewer main upgrades.

Most of these projects are funded through the Town’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP) using a variety of funding sources, to include; General Fund, Water & Sewer Fund, and General Obligation Bonds. Other potential funding sources include grants and the Town’s new Urban Construction Initiative (UCI) program.
