This full-time position will be responsible for multiple administrative and technical tasks that will support the building permit and inspection functions of the Planning & Building Department. Duties will include front counter customer service; permit processing; inspection scheduling; report preparation; data entry; filing and zoning review of single-family homes.
Qualified applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED, as well as, a minimum of three years of related experience. Applicant must be proficient with Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Access, and Word. Additional requirements include: excellent customer service and organizational skills; the ability to multi-task and the ability to work in a team environment. In addition, the applicant should also have the ability to read and interpret plans and possess a general knowledge of the building and construction industry/trades. An ICC Permit Technician certification must be obtained within 18 months of hire date. A satisfactory post-offer, pre-employment criminal background investigation will be required of the selected applicant.
Starting salary range is $31,149/year - $34,264/year, depending upon qualifications. Retirement benefits are provided through the Virginia Retirement System. Direct Deposit of pay is required for all full-time employees.
