Blacksburg Transit is currently seeking qualified individuals who are interested in becoming a full-time Bus Operator III. Successful candidates will be comprehensively trained to become part of an exciting and dynamic team. Additional responsibilities of this position will eventually include being educated to assist in training newly hired Bus Operator I candidates.
Applicants must be 19 years of age or older and possess a valid Virginia driver’s license and an excellent driving record. Applicants must have the ability to obtain a Virginia Commercial Driver’s License. Preferred applicants will possess a current CDL Class B license with a P endorsement and air brake certification. Additionally, qualified applicants must have excellent customer service skills and enjoy working with the public. The ability to communicate effectively in English and be capable of sitting for six to ten hours at a time is required. A pre-employment drug screening is required for this position and the CDL drug testing guidelines will be followed during the employment period. A satisfactory post-offer, pre-employment criminal background investigation will be required of the selected applicant. The hours of work will vary, including day, evening, weekend and holiday work.
Starting salary range is $28,827/year - $31,710/year, depending upon qualifications. The Town of Blacksburg offers benefits that include fully paid employee medical, dental and vision insurance; short-term and long-term disability insurance (as applicable) and life insurance. Retirement benefits are provided through the Virginia Retirement System. Direct Deposit of pay is required for all full-time employees.
