Transit Department

This position will answer calls from customers, providing accurate route information, assisting with concerns pertaining to routes, and record and relay accurate messages to staff.  This position will monitor daily operation to ensure on-time delivery of service and fill open shifts, driving when necessary.

Qualified applicants must have the ability to communicate effectively and interact with the public and other employees in a courteous, responsive, and cordial manner.  Qualified applicants must also have the ability to become certified in First Aid and CPR, and have moderate knowledge of computers including Windows, and using e-mail.  While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit for up to three hours at a time.

A high school diploma or GED is required. A valid Virginia Driver’s License and an excellent driving record are required.  A Commercial Driver’s License is required within thirty days of employment.  A pre-employment drug screening is required for this position and the CDL drug testing guidelines will be followed during the employment period. A satisfactory post-offer, pre-employment criminal background investigation will be required of the selected applicant.

The hourly rate is $14.14.  The hours of work will vary. This position will not exceed 1,500 hours during the initial year of employment or during the Affordable Care Act measurement period of April 1st through March 31st
