The Town of Blacksburg is currently recruiting for the seasonal position of Pre/Post Camp Counselor. This position will be responsible for the safe supervision of children during the hours prior to and after the completion of summer camps.
Qualified applicants must possess the ability to supervise children safely in an indoor/outdoor environment and will be responsible for ensuring the safe drop-off and pick-up of children before and after summer camps. Qualified applicants for this position must be 18 years of age or older to be considered and have the ability to successfully complete a CPR and First Aid Course. A high school diploma or G.E.D. is preferred, along with previous experience. A satisfactory post-offer, pre-employment criminal background investigation will be required of the selected applicant.
Hourly rate is $9.25. Position duration will be from approximately May through August 2019. Days worked will be Monday through Friday with hours from 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM. Additional hours may be required for the set-up and take-down of daily activities. This position will not exceed 1,500 hours during the initial year of employment or during the Affordable Care Act measurement period of April 1st through March 31st.
