Police Department

This position will serve as the first point of contact for all incoming visitors to the Police Department and will provide assistance as necessary. Duties will include, but are not limited to the following: answering telephones and fielding inquiries/requests; receiving and processing payments; managing the administrative aspects of the parking ticket system software; facilitating the fine collection process; serving as support to other administrative positions as necessary; requisitioning supplies and inventory control; performing data entry; maintaining files; processing daily mail and various other tasks as assigned.

Qualified candidates must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.   An Associate's degree in Accounting or Business, or related accounting experience is desired.  Strong communication and customer service skills are required.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Access and Excel is desired. A valid Virginia Driver’s License and an excellent driving record are required. A VCIN certification is required within 6 months of hire date and certification as a Notary Public is required within 12 months of hire date.  

Selected applicants must undergo and successfully complete each of the following to receive consideration for this position: an extensive background investigation, medical examination and pre-employment drug screening.

Hourly rate range is $13.58 - $14.94, depending upon qualifications. Schedules assigned will vary. This positionwill not exceed 1,500 hours during the initial year of employment or during the Affordable Care Act
measurement period of April 1
st through March 31st.
