Vintage Market

April - November, Market Square Park

Shop at the Blacksburg Vintage Market at Market Square Park on the second Sunday of every month from April thru November from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the best selection of vintage vinyl, clothing, jewelry, books, housewares, oddities, and who knows what else.

May - December, Market Square Park

About once a month the Farmers Market hosts tastings and other special events during Saturday market hours.

Easter Egg Hunt

Saturday before Easter Sunday, Municipal Park

Come to this free event at Municipal Park in spring for children eight years and younger. Bring your Easter basket to collect eggs, and a camera to capture that magical moment with the Easter Bunny and a special guest. After the egg hunt there will be a giant inflatable for jumping and play.

Chocolate Festival

Artisan chocolates, live music, kids zone, and beer andwine garden are all just part of the Chocolate Festival held in April in Downtown Blacksburg by the Rotary Club of Blacksburg

Arbor Day / Shred-a-Thon

April, Blacksburg Parks and Recreation office, 615 Patrick Henry Dr.

Calling all volunteers! Come help make Blacksburg greener by planting trees on town-owned properties. Bring a shovel and get ready to get dirty. Individuals and groups are welcome. For more information and/or to schedule your group to participate, contact Travis Coad, Outdoor Supervisor, at 540-961-1133 or tcoad@blacksburg.gov.

International Street Fair

April, Downtown Blacksburg

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to experience 30 countries in one day? Then check out the International Street Fair hosted by the Cranwell International Center at Virginia Tech held in April in Downtown Blacksburg.

Get up close to dump trucks, snow plows, fire trucks, police cars, buses, and more! Hosted by the Town of Blacksburg. 

 
 

Mingle at the Market

June - August, Market Square Park

Get to know your neighbors at Mingle at the Market at Market Square Park. Held on a Wednesday market day June - August, 5-6:30 p.m., the mingle features local beer and wine, live music, and of course all of your favorite market offerings. Hosted by Friends of the Farmers Market. 

 
 

Market Square Jam

June - September, Market Square Park

Blacksburg’s Market Square Jam is an official Crooked Road affiliated venue that provides fun and entertainment on Wednesday evenings, June through September. The jam takes place at Market Square Park from 8-10 p.m. Hosted by the Town of Blacksburg.

 
 

Friday Night Concerts

June -  July, Henderson Lawn

Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, picnics, and families for a warm summer evening of music on the Virginia Tech campus. Henderson Lawn is located at the corner of North Main Street and College Avenue. Concerts are Fridays, June through July, 6-7:30 p.m. Hosted by Virginia Tech's School of Performing Arts and the Town of Blacksburg.

Summer Solstice

June, Downtown Blacksburg

Fun filled free family activities will include the ever popular Alberti’s Fleas Circus, Water Wars, moon bounces, doggie costume contest and Circus Stella - a traditional family circus which features performing rescued dogs and amazing human feats like trapeze, aerial silk, rope-walking, and acrobatics. Hosted by Downtown Blacksburg. Inc. 

 
 

Independence Day Festivities

July 4, Downtown Blacksburg and Municipal Park

Held on July 4 every year, there is a parade in downtown Blacksburg, followed by a free movie at The Lyric Theatre (sponsored by Mt. Tabor Ruritan Club). After the movie and parade, The Town of Blacksburg provides music and fireworks at Municipal Park. For more information, call Randy Hall at 540-443-1106.

 

 

Art and Breakfast at the Market

July, Market Square Park

Come celebrate Blacksburg’s vibrant arts community by visiting Art & Breakfast at the Market. Downtown Blacksburg, Inc. hosts Art at the Market, Blacksburg’s celebration of fine art and artists. Breakfast, a family event featuring wonderful locally grown food, live music and the best produce the farmers have to offer is hosted by Friends of the Farmers Market. Make it a family affair and take in some art along with your breakfast. Catering by Champs Catering

 
 

Steppin' Out

First Friday and Saturday in August, Downtown Blacksburg

Steppin' Out features over 200 artists and crafts people from around the United States selling unique handcrafted items – jewelry, pottery, textiles, metal work, basketry, stained & fused glass, yard art, fine art, furniture, toys, artisan foods and more. Hosted by Downtown Blacksburg, Inc.

Sustainability Week

Sustainability Week is a long-running collaboration between Sustainable Blacksburg, the Town of Blacksburg, and Virginia Tech's Office of Energy & Sustainability. First held in 2007, this annual week-long series of events in mid-September embodies its tagline, "Celebrate. Educate. Motivate." by highlighting sustainability programs and practices that help build a more sustainable campus and town.

Halloween Carnival

October, Blacksburg Community Center

This annual event is a fun and safe observance of Halloween provided by the Town of Blacksburg. There will be carnival games, candy, prizes. Cohosted by Blacksburg Parks and Recreation and the Virginia Tech Chapter of Circle K.

Winter Lights Festival and Holiday Parade

First Friday in December, Downtown Blacksburg

Held the first Friday in December. Featuring the Holiday Parade, Tree Lighting Ceremony, Santa at the Lyric, TubaChristmas, and more. Downtown Merchants' annual open houses, late night shopping, free gift wrap, snacks and beverages, holiday specials. Hosted by Downtown Blacksburg, Inc. and the Town of Blacksburg.
