The Town of Blacksburg hosts a number of festivals and events for people of all ages and interests. Whether it's the Holiday Parade, Easter Egg Hunt, or Independence Day celebration, there is something for everyone. Most of these events are organized by Blacksburg Parks and Recreation, but the town also cosponsors a number of other community events such as the Steppin' Out Street festival, which takes place the first weekend of August, or the Friday Night Concerts on Henderson Lawn, in conjunction with Virginia Tech.
Come to this free event at Municipal Park in spring for children eight years and younger. Bring your Easter basket to collect eggs, and a camera to capture that special moment with the Easter Bunny and a special guest. After the egg hunt there will be a giant inflatable for jumping and play. For more information, call Randy Hall at 540-443-1106. Cosponsored by Blacksburg Parks and Recreation Department and the Virginia Tech Chapter of Circle K, and Chi Delta Alpha of Virginia Tech.
Held on July 4 every year, there is a parade in downtown Blacksburg, followed by a free movie at The Lyric Theatre (sponsored by Mt. Tabor Ruritan Club). After the movie and parade, The Town of Blacksburg provides music and fireworks at Municipal Park. For more information, call Randy Hall 540-443-1106.
This annual event is a fun and safe observance of Halloween provided by the Town of Blacksburg. There will be carnival games, candy, prizes. Cosponsored by Virginia Tech Chapter of Circle K.
