CUP19-0005-Conditional Use Permit Request for Office on the Ground Floor in DC Downtown Commercial zoning district at 620 North Main Street, Suite 104 (Tax Map No. 226-D 1 A4) by William Ellenbogen (applicant) on behalf of Keith, LLC (owner).

The Blacksburg Planning and Building Department has received a request for a Conditional Use Permit for Office on the ground floor in the DC Downtown Commercial zoning district at 620 North Main Street, Suite 104. The prospective tenant will be an office for a University Ombudsperson for Virginia Tech faculty and staff. The unit is now vacant but has previously housed Rendezvous Tattoo. No exterior modifications to the building or site are proposed. Office Use on the ground floor in the Downtown Commercial zoning district is not a by-right use therefore a conditional use permit is required. The Future Land Use designation for this property is High Impact Commercial.

Neighborhood Meeting
Wednesday, August 7, 2019, 5:30 pm in the Blacksburg Motor Company Building at 400 S. Main St.
This is an informal meeting that will give the applicant the opportunity to present the plans and provide attendees with the opportunity to ask questions.  A staff member from the Planning Department will forward the notes from the meeting to the Planning Commission and Town Council.
Planning Commission Work Session
Tuesday, August 20, 2019, 5:00 pm in the Blacksburg Motor Company Building at 400 S. Main St.
 The Planning Commission will review the request and the staff report.  There will be an opportunity for the applicant to present the proposal.  The public is welcome to attend, however, this is not a public hearing and there will not be an opportunity for public comment.
Planning Commission Public Hearing
Tuesday, September 3, 2019, 7:30 pm in the Roger E. Hedgepeth Chambers of the Municipal Building at 300 S. Main St.
 The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on the request and make a recommendation to Town Council.  There will be an opportunity for the applicant and the public to comment.
Town Council Work Session
Tuesday, September 3, 2019, 11:00 am in the Blacksburg Motor Company Building at 400 S. Main St.
 The Town Council will review the request, the staff report and the Planning Commission's recommendation. There will be an opportunity for the applicant to present the proposal.  The public is welcome to attend, however, this is not a pubic hearing and there will not be an opportunity for public comment.
Town Council Public Hearing
Tuesday, September 10, 2019, 7:30 pm in the Roger E. Hedgepeth Chambers of the Municipal Building at 300 S. Main St. 
 The Town Council will hold a public hearing on the request and take final action.  There will be an opportunity for the applicant and the public to comment.
