The Blacksburg Planning and Building Department has received a rezoning request to allow for seven (7) existing lots to be rezoned from R-4 Low Density Residential to PRD – Planned Residential District at 509 Broce Drive.

The applicant is proposing two (2) apartments buildings (with a combined total of 44 bedrooms), 46 off-street parking spaces, a stormwater bio-retention basin, grill and picnic area, trail, 8’ screening fence, and landscaping.

Neighborhood Meeting: Thursday, June 29, 6 p.m.; Blacksburg Motor Company, 400 S. Main St This is an informal meeting that will give the applicant the opportunity to present the plans and provide the attendees with the opportunity to ask questions.A staff member from the Planning and Building Department will forward the notes from the meeting to the Planning Commission and Town Council.
Planning Commission Work Session: Tuesday, July 18, 5 p.m. Blacksburg Motor Company, 400 S. Main St
The Planning Commission will review the request and the staff report. There will be an opportunity for the applicant to present the proposal. The public is welcome to attend, however this is not a public hearing and there will not be an opportunity for public comment during the meeting.

Main St. The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on the request and make recommendation to the Town Council. There will be an opportunity for public input at this hearing.

Town Council Work Session: Tuesday, October 17, 11 a.m. Blacksburg Motor Company, 400 S. Main St

The Town Council will review the request, the Planning Commission's recommendation, and the staff report. There will be an opportunity for the applicant to present the proposal. The public is welcome to attend, however this is not a public hearing, and there will not be an opportunity for public comment during the meeting.
Town Council Public Hearing: Tuesday, November 14, 20177:30 p.m., Roger E. Hedgepeth Chambers, second floor, Blacksburg Municipal Building, 300 S. Main St. The Town Council will hold a public hearing on the request and take final action on the requests.There will be an opportunity for public input at this meeting.
