The Town of Blacksburg Parks and Recreation has 20+ parks (over 1,000 acres), of open space for the public to enjoy.  Use the map below or the links on the left to visit each park for more information.

Municipal Park Map (pdf)

Blacksburg Municipal Park is located on 35 acres. Also know as the Caboose Park or the Hand-in-Hand park.

Caboose Park

Municipal Park is one of the largest play area in Blacksburg. Several generations of children have enjoyed swinging and sliding at the park.

Amenities

Soccer fields, lighted softball fields, tennis courts, roller hockey court, skate park, horseshoe pits, playground, swings, barbecue grills, picnic tables/shelters, gazebos, benches

Hand-in-Hand Playground

The Hand-in-Hand playground was built inside Municipal Park and opened to the public on October 4, 1992. It includes mazes of slides and climbing areas.

 

Picnic Shelters/Rentals

 

Shelter I

20 tables, seats approximately 160. 
This shelter has two grills and two horseshoe pits. Horseshoe rentals are 
available for $5/set. Restrooms across the street. Handicapped accessible.
