All trails are open from sunrise to sunset. Trail users should be respectful of other users regardless of their mode of travel or recreation, speed, or skill. The following rules and guidelines should enable everyone to use Blacksburg’s trails in a safe and enjoyable manner:

Pedestrians: Have the right of way.

Be Safe: Please walk with a friend and obey all appropriate rules for bicycles, rollerblades and skateboards.

Control Your Bicycle: All bicyclists must yield to pedestrians. Bicyclist should always alert pedestrians, (bells are recommended). When approaching a pedestrian, pass on the left, and maintain safe speeds.

Wear Protective Helmets: Everyone should wear the recommended safety gear for their chosen activity especially bicyclist, rollerblades, and skateboarders. This may include wrist, knee and elbow pads.

Be Aware: Travel in a consistent and predictable manner. Look behind you before changing position along the trail. Be vigilant of the people around you and your surroundings.

Prevent Litter: Help keep the trails clean and neat for others to enjoy. Adopt-A-Park programs are available through the town. For more information, contact the Office of Waste Reduction & Recycling at 540-443-1212.
