Post Date:08/06/2025 3:35 PM

Huckleberry Trail Closure: Overgrowth Removal: August 14 & 15

Beginning Thursday, August 14 at 8:00am, a portion of the Huckleberry Trail will be closed between Hightop Road and just north of Warm Hearth Drive.

A tree removal contractor will be working to clear overgrowth and encroaching trees from the trail easement. This work is in preparation for the upcoming trail widening work outlined below. This clearing work, in advance of trail widening, is expected to take 2 days and will be complete by Friday, August 15, by 5:00pm. The trail will be reopened nightly by 5:00pm.

Once this clearing work is complete, the trail will be reopened until trail widening work begins on September 8.

Huckleberry Trail Closure: Trail Widening: Begins September 8

Beginning Monday, September 8 at 8:00am, a portion of the Huckleberry Trail will be closed between Hightop Road and just north of Warm Hearth Drive.

A paving contractor will be working to widen and improve the trail. The existing trail will be fully removed and then reconstructed as part of this effort. During construction, access alongside and adjacent to the trail will be fully restricted for both pedestrian and cyclist use due to the removal of the trail surface and safety hazards presented by the construction efforts.

A detour of the trail will not be possible while the work is completed. This section of trail will be closed to pedestrian and cyclist use for the duration of the project; the trail will remain closed nightly.

This work is expected to take approximately three weeks and is expected to be complete by Friday, September 26 at 7:00pm, weather permitting; the trail will remain closed for the duration of this period.

A subsequent phase of trail widening, located immediately adjacent to the north, is planned and will be coordinated under separate notification at a later date.
