The Hand-in-Hand wooden playground, located on Turner Street in Municipal Park, was built in 1992 by community volunteers. The project took about a week. The playground opened to the public on October 4, 1992. It includes mazes of slides, climbing areas and swings. The 28- year-old structure has brought joy and entertainment to many children, but it is showing much wear and tear and needs to be brought up to current national safety standards. The project will include removing the wooden playground and installing a new metal and plastic play structure in its place.
Currently, the Town is working to select a contractor for the project. Once this step is complete, there will be public input sessions to solicit feedback on the design. There will also be opportunities for the community to assist with the project.
Public input sessions will be scheduled for Fall 2020/Winter 2021.
