If you've ever considered running for office or serving on one of the town's citizen advisory committees, this 9–10 week course is the perfect place to start. Meet town staff, gain insight into how your local government operates, and discover the award-winning programs and services that make Blacksburg a great place to live.

Classes are held on Monday evenings each spring, from 6pm-8pm. The 2027 program dates will be announced in January 2027.

Participants must be 18 years of age or older, and residents of the Town of Blacksburg.

The course fills up quickly and is limited to 25 participants.
