Description:

Conditional Use Permit request (CUP-25-3) to permit a Dance Hall use in DC Downtown Commercial at 130 Jackson Street NW. The applicants are requesting to convert the property at 130 Jackson Street NW into a restaurant and bar (Olaika Restaurant/Bar and Dance Hall) with dance space and live entertainment.  The property used to be the site of a previous conditional use for Commercial Indoor Recreation (Blue Ridge Axe Throwing)  Restaurant/Bar is a permitted by-right use in Downtown Commercial but the use of the property as a Dance Hall requires an approved conditional use permit.  The applicants do not request any modifications or exceptions to the town code.  The Town of Blacksburg Comprehensive Plan Future Land Use designation is Downtown Commercial which includes small-scale commercial uses such as restaurants, retail and markets.  This proposed development will not increase density beyond the future land use designation.
