Stonegate North PRD 400 Broce Drive-WITHDRAWN BY APPLICANT

The Blacksburg Planning and Building Department has received a request to rezone approximately 1.39 acres of vacant land at 400 Stonegate Drive from the RM-48 Medium Density Multi-Unit Residential zoning district to PR Planned Residential zoning district for multi-family dwelling and townhouse use.  The applicant proposes one 4-story apartment building with four 4-bedroom units per story for a total of 64 bedrooms.  The applicant also proposes four townhomes units with a mix of 3-4 bedrooms per unit.  The maximum number of bedrooms is 78 bedrooms (56.1 bedroom/acre), and the proposed parking ratio is 0.81 spaces per bedroom.  

The Future Land Use Designation in the Comprehensive Plan is High Density Residential.  High Density Residential allows for more than 10 dwelling units per acre or more than 20 bedrooms per acre.

Wednesday, January 8, 2020 6:00 pm in the Blacksburg Motor Company Building at 400 S. Main St.

This is an informal meeting that will give the applicant the opportunity to present the plans and provide attendees with the opportunity to ask questions.  A staff member from the Planning department will forward the notes from the meeting to the Planning Commission and Town Council.

Planning Commission Work Session

Tuesday, January 21, 2020 5:00 pm in the Blacksburg Motor Company Building at 400 S. Main St.

The Planning Commission will review the request and the staff report.  There will be an opportunity for the applicant to present the proposal.  The public is welcome to attend, however, this is not a public hearing, and there will not be an opportunity for public comment.

Tuesday, February 4, 2020 7:30 pm in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building at 300 S. Main St.

The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on the request and make a recommendation to Town Council.  There will be an opportunity for the applicant and the public to comment.

The Town Council will review the request, the staff report, and Planning Commission's recommendation.  There will be an opportunity for the applicant to present the proposal.  The public is welcome to attend, however this is not a public hearing and there will not be an opportunity for public comment

The Town Council will hold a public hearing on the request and take final action.  There will be an opportunity for the applicant and the public to comment.
